What should I expect during my Reiki session

What to Expect During Your Reiki Session

Reiki is a gentle yet powerful practice that supports the body and energy system in returning to natural balance.

Each session is unique. The energy responds to what is needed in that moment, working in a way that feels steady, intuitive, and supportive.

Arrival & Intention

We begin with a brief conversation to understand how you are feeling and where you would like support.

Together, we set a clear intention. This provides quiet direction for the session and allows the energy to flow with purpose. 

Your first session may take slightly longer (up to 90 minutes), allowing time for a more detailed conversation and for you to settle fully into the experience.

Settling Into Stillness

You remain fully clothed and lie comfortably on a treatment table, with blankets and supports available to ensure complete ease.

Through grounding and earthing visualisation, I guide you into a state of calm presence, allowing the body and mind to soften naturally.

Gentle Sound Support

At certain points during your session, I may gently incorporate the use of tuning forks to support your body’s natural ability to relax, rebalance, and release tension.

This is a subtle and calming addition to Reiki, using soft sound vibrations to work with your energy field.

Using a gentle technique often described as “combing” the energy field, the tuning fork is moved slowly through the space around your body. This allows any areas that may feel a little dense or unsettled to be softly identified.

When these areas are found, I may pause briefly, allowing your body and energy system to respond and naturally settle. The sound and vibration support the field in reorganising, helping it return to a more balanced state.

As the energy field begins to calm, the tuning fork may also be used more directly over the body, working gently with the chakras (energy centres), supporting the release of tension and encouraging a smoother flow of energy.

This work follows a natural, flowing process — allowing the energy to soften, settle, and then move more freely throughout the body.

This is all gently supported with Reiki, allowing the energy to integrate in its own time, with Light Language bringing through a deeper layer of support, balance, and alignment.

There is nothing you need to do during this part of the session — simply relax, rest, and allow your body to respond in the way that feels right for you.

The Reiki Process

I work with light, intentional touch or just above the body, allowing the energy to move where balance is required.

Reiki supports:

• Nervous system relaxation
• Release of energetic tension
• Emotional steadiness
• Restoration of energetic flow

Experiences vary. You may notice warmth, subtle movement, drifting stillness, or very little at all. All responses are valid.

The energy works beyond conscious awareness.

When Nothing Is Felt

It is entirely natural not to feel distinct sensations during a session.

Reiki does not depend on conscious perception. Shifts often unfold quietly in the hours or days that follow, such as improved sleep, greater clarity, or a deeper sense of calm.

Your system integrates the work in its own time.

Insight & Integration

At times, gentle impressions may arise. At other times, the session remains purely restorative.

Nothing is introduced prematurely. The process unfolds at a pace that honours your readiness and comfort.

Healing in Gentle Layers

Healing does not always happen all at once.

Very often, the body responds more deeply when it feels calm, supported, and safe rather than overwhelmed or pushed too quickly.

Rather than moving in a straight line, healing can unfold gradually through layers — allowing the nervous system, body, and energy to settle before deeper release takes place naturally.

Some shifts are immediate, while others build more quietly over time through small but meaningful changes.

Gentle progress is still progress.

After Your Session: Gentle Aftercare & Support

Many people leave a Reiki session feeling calm, relaxed, and mentally clearer. You may also notice better sleep, emotional release, or a greater sense of balance in the hours or days that follow.

It is also completely normal to feel more tired later in the day. This is simply your body responding and adjusting.

Drinking plenty of water after your session is important, as it helps support your body as the energy continues to settle. You may also find it helpful to rest, eat nourishing foods, and take things gently for the remainder of the day following your session.

 

Some people notice mild and temporary after-effects such as tiredness, emotional release, or a temporary awareness of existing symptoms. These responses are usually short-lived and part of the body’s natural rebalancing process.

Every experience is unique. Some people notice immediate shifts, while for others the changes unfold more gradually over time.

Reiki is a gentle and supportive process, and I am always happy to guide you if you have any questions after your session.

My intention is always to hold a calm, steady environment where you can soften and reconnect with yourself.

There is nothing you need to achieve.
